Funny, my parents did a very similar thing to me when I was a teenager and tried to challenge their authority with the fact that I was making my own money at my first job. Not surprisingly, I quickly gave in, learned my lesson, and am probably less of an entitled asshole because of it. It might not work for everyone, but sometimes kids need a little tough love to ultimately become a better person.

I don't understand people needing to vaccuum more than once per week.Are you having pillow fights every night?Do you eat while you walk around the house?Is your house located in the desert so the dust sets in quick?Do you have a small kid that walks on the floor or a pet that leaves a lot of hair everywhere?Because I doubt any of those are happening in this case.

I don't have much of an issue with this, except for the "buy back all the items I bought for you in the past" part. When you give someone a gift, you're supposed to give it to them and not expect anything in return, ever. Otherwise it's not "giving", it's bartering with extra steps under a facade of selflessness

I don't understand why people think this isn't a good way of teaching the child their lesson, cause from the moms way of writing things it seems the child has been acting up, or directly being a bitch about making their own money, and the mother is teaching their child not to treat their parents like shit. Of course i don't know the full story nor any context at all, but if you look at for example the line where the mom wrote "Also, as you threw in my face that you are making money now, it will be easier to buy back all the item i bought for you in the past". Seem reasonable to me, perhaps a bit over exaggerated to have their child buy back things they got from their parents in the past.

My mom did this when i was twelve. Since she was raising me single, she got to keep the child support of my dad for rent and utilities, and i got the national child money, about 200 euro. We split up dishes, and space in the fridge. I had to get my own stuff, do my own laundry etc. I managed pretty well and could treat myself once in a while. I think it backfired on her. She moved out when i turned 17. We only speak from time to time now

Holy fuck thats HIS part of the rent? WTF? My friend rented a place in the capital close to the univ for the same prices total (granted it was 6years back or so... prices skyrocketed since but still). 2 bedrooms kitchen toilet and bathroom. Also, since when can my roomate tell me how to clean my room and stuff like that? I know thats not the point but still.

I hate when things go to this limit, its hard to fix up things and go back, and other thing he will be forced to respect his mother not, he won't understand what family bonds are he will be forced to do so, if this real i dont think she (the mom) did right, and in long future there relationship are done.

My mother did similar thing to me. I did ok, we play by your rules. Ever since i could support myself i left her and by now haven't spoken to her in years. She still thinks i owe her something for some reason

Wow. A passive-aggressive note. Apparently it's two children bickering, rather than an adult parenting a child. Although, being from the mom instead of the dad, the manipulative and petty nature of the note makes perfect sense.
